Children’s Cancer Network awards scholarships each year to cancer survivors and immediate family members whose lives and college savings have been changed by childhood cancer. Survivors of childhood cancer, their parents and siblings, as well as immediate family members of those who did not survive their cancer are encouraged to apply for these scholarships. Scholarship funds may be used for books and tuition for applicants seeking post high school education opportunities including, but not limited to, universities (Baccalaureate, Masters or Doctoral programs), community colleges and trade schools. If awarded, the scholarship will be made payable to the recipient’s school on behalf of the recipient.
Established in 2005, the John W. Luttrell Scholarship received its initial funding from friends and family of John Luttrell who passed away that year from brain cancer. Donations were made in John’s name with the goal of assisting those whose lives had been impacted by childhood cancer seek higher education opportunities. The annual scholarships are a small reward for the strength and courage these families demonstrate in their daily lives. These scholarships will be granted to students from the states of Arizona or Illinois, John’s home state.
Thank you for the tremendously generous scholarship. My heart is full of gratitude. The experience and education I am gaining due to your scholarship is unparalleled. It takes a huge financial burden off of me and my family.
