Jose likes to say “Those sisters help me be brave, cancer is Evil Doctor Porkchop and he does NOT have a friend in me!!”
Jose went from a healthy happy three-year-old to throwing up, crying in pain, and not being able to walk almost overnight. We rushed him to the hospital, and doctors didn’t have any answers, perhaps a stomach bug or dehydration. After almost a week in the hospital, the answer was found – he was diagnosed with LCH, a rare cancer that begins in the LCH cells.
Our world stopped; suddenly life was in two phases – before and after cancer. Jose has struggled with terrible sickness, joint pain and headaches; at times he couldn’t walk, other moments he would just silently cry. Through it all he has shown tremendous courage, he fills the room with his infectious laugh.
The past year has been hard, but our family, friends, and team of amazing doctors have gotten us through, and now there is an end in sight as Jose’s last chemo treatment is September 12th 2018.
