CCN’s March 8th Run to Fight Cancer Hero is Penelope!

Penelope was born on Jan. 13th, 2016 which was her grandfather’s birthday.  Shortly after her birth she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma and her cancer journey began.  She had surgery shortly afterwards that included a long hospital stay.  After several long weeks in the NICU the family decided to take Penelope home.  This decision was very emotional for the whole family as well as the staff who had taken amazing care of her.  They knew there was a struggle to come.  The physician gave Penelope weeks to a month to live but she was a fighter and survivor!  Over the next 8 months there was happiness and sorrow.  She passed away on Sept. 6, 2016.  She was loved very much and she impacted many lives and her family misses her everyday.  #Penelope strong! is their motto.
