In 2010 Kassidy was at a party and came home with a stomach ache and her abdomen began to grow quickly, her family knew something was wrong. Mom, Dani, took her to several hospitals with no help. Finally after seeing the family physician she was sent immediately to Cardon’s hospital where she was diagnosed with Duisgerminoma on her ovaries.
With treatment complete Kassidy is getting back into school as a Sophomore at Chandler High School. She is excited about taking Theatre classes next year and would like to one day be a Theatre major at one of the Southern California Universities. She has told her family that, “she will get there even if she has to play her guitar and live out of her car.”
This teen is multi talented as she has taught herself to play the Bass, Electric and Classical Guitar as well as the Mandolin and Ukulele with the help of UTube videos. She enjoys listening to classic rock, especially her favorite group the Grateful Dead and watching Horror or Comedy movies. Her favorite actor is Zach Galifianakis who stared in the Hangover and the Muppet Movie.
Kassidy has a great sense of humor, which has served her well, especially during her treatment. Even the medical staff caring for her noticed this girls positive outlook. She was recently given the opportunity to speak on behalf of Make A Wish and would love to speak to more audiences about her journey.
She inspires many but is inspired by her family and friends including her puppy named “puppy”. If you ask her what is the key to getting through – she will tell you that a sense of humor is a must “if” you have to take this journey.
